What is an American Louvered Roof (ALR) system?

The American Louvered Roof is an adjustable roof that transforms from a solid water proof covering to an open garden trellis or Pergola style covering giving light, ventilation and views of the clear sky above. With the touch of a button, the American Louvered Roof system can give you complete flexibility of your light and weather control needs for any outdoor living area year round.

What are the benefits of an ALR system?

The ALR system can provide homeowners and businesses the best of all worlds by controlling their outdoor living spaces at a temperature and light level that’s comfortable year-round.

The ALR system can withstand the elements year-round with low maintenance, offers shade or sunlight on demand, is 97% waterproof when closed and can be remotely operated. Most importantly, the ALR system is versatile enough to accommodate any architectural style to suit your design and lifestyle needs.

An ALR system not only improves your decks, patios and outdoor living areas, it also helps inside. The American Louvered Roof can block the sun’s powerful rays protecting expensive window coverings, carpets and furniture from fading and damage. In addition, the exterior walls of your home or business will be protected from solar heat gain helping to reduce your summer cooling costs.

How does an American Louvered Roof work?

An American Louvered Roof™ contains louver blades, which rotates in unison over a 160 degree range of motion activated by a small 12 volt DC motor. The louver blades have the ability to stop anywhere allowing an exact regulation of light, shade and ventilation desired.

The blades are controlled by either a single toggle switch or multiple toggle switches conveniently placed in the patio area or the remote control. Power to the system is provided by a small transformer which plugs into an ordinary household 110v outlet. The American Louvered Roof system can also be integrated with home automation systems allowing pre-programmed settings, times, moisture sensors, etc. When closed, the interlocking louver blades create a waterproof seal and a slight pitch drains the water away into the incorporated gutter and downspout system or onto the ground.

Where can I install the ALR system?

The American Louvered Roof is ideally suited for use in all types of outdoor areas. American Louvered Roof units can be attached to existing residential or commercial structures; built free-standing; or incorporated into current solid roofs in a sky-light fashion. Whether you have a gable or pitched roof, bay windows or doors, or an angled roof or walls, a system can be engineered to suit your design and lifestyle needs. Applications include patios, decks, spas, swimming pools, outdoor kitchens, BBQ areas, gazebos, courtyards, entryways and anywhere else convenient sun, light and weather control is desired.

For privacy screening and wind protection, the American Louvered Roof system can be installed flat, pitched, gabled or vertically. Any shape or size outdoor space can be accommodated.

What does an American Louvered Roof look like?

Each American Louvered Roof is designed with the aesthetics and architecture of the surrounding areas and buildings in mind. It can be a stand-alone structure or attached to existing residential or commercial structures.

Design possibilities are endless with multiple colors, materials, finishes and styles available. These include aluminum, steel, wood, stucco, paint, etc. Virtually any material and finish can be applied to achieve just the right look and feel for your project.
